Methane gas is a common water issue, and becoming more prevalent in recent years. There are actually four different types of gasses we typically see in our travels throughout the various counties in Upstate NY… Carbon dioxide, Oxygen, Sulphur, and Methane. It is never a good idea to have gas in your well water, but some are worse than others. Most notably, Sulphur and Methane gasses are most concerning because they have the potential to cause the most damage. Both have flammability characteristics- which is a big concern, but also related problems include plumbing damage and degradation, faucets, and fixture damage, not to mention odors as well!
